I read an interesting article in which the author made the argument in favor of rewarding individuals for punt and kickoff return touchdowns and yardage....rather than simply giving that stat to defense/special teams. Would that completely screw things up? With 10 teams the talent on each roster will be down somewhat. This gives greater significance to flex players as now many of our flex guys may end up being no.2 or no.3 recievers or back up rbs who figure significantly into the return game. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteNo quibble with return guys getting points for TDs, but I think points for yardage could get awfully messy. I thought Steve got points for all those Reggie Bush punt returns in that Monday night football game, and Taylor lost points when DeSean Jackson fumbled a punt return. Am I wrong on that?
ReplyDeleteI think we need to adjust the kicker settings. Maybe lose a point for missing an extra point, and only get two points for zero to nineteen yards.
No, you are absolutely correct on that, Jason. I've lost points for a DeSean Jackson fumble and yet to receive points for an Adrian Peterson return touchdown.
ReplyDeleteI like the yardage idea for kick/punt returns because it does make one think harder about playing a flex wide out rather than a third running back.
I also concur with Jason regarding the kicker settings. Kickers aren't even real football players so their impact in fantasy should be limited.
I agree with the kicker settings completely. Before setting up the league this year, we will be sure to look at all our options.
ReplyDeleteI think return yardage adds a new dimension that could be fun.
On this issue, my opinion is -- if it's not broke...
ReplyDeleteI'm just worried about someone getting 20 points a weeks because the Lions kick returner fields six kickoffs each week.
ReplyDeleteI do think it sucks when a guy returns a punt 80 yards and gets pushed out at the five, and then you get no points to show for it, but we don't have any problems with interception returns like that, where you get deprived of a defensive touchdown.
