Another thing...

Yahoo is NOT changing their rankings, yet their fantasy projections are changing. In fact, AP's projection increased almost 20 fantasy points with the signing of Favre earlier today. Something is seriously flawed here. Let me just point out a few non-sequitors:

1) Westbrook is ranked as the #5 player, but is projected to accumulate only 209 fantasy points, which is less than Clinton Portis at #13.
2) Tom Brady is projected at 334 fantasy points, well higher than Manning and even Brees, yet he is ranked worse than both of them.

There are quite a few more, but I don't feel the need to list them all here to make my point. I don't know what to do about this necessarily, but I don't think this list is the appropriate one to be using as our metric, especially since we were all under the impression that it would change during the offseason/preseason as things developed.

  1. I just looked at the rankings based on actual fantasy projections, and I agree with Scott that that list seems a little more accurate...especially for the first few rounds. I think the rankings based on projected fantasy points lose their appeal as you begin to incorporate lower level QBs. For example, Kyle Orton is projected for 188 and Marion Barber 190. Clearly Barber is much more desirable than Orton.

Another pro to the projected points rankings is that we can figure out where Defenses fit into the fold. If someone wants to keep a defense in our current setup, there is really no way to determine which round should be sacrificed. I'm guessing the Commish will not be fond of a setup that makes Brady cost a 2nd instead of a 4th though.

  2. He might not be, but this is a democracy last I checked. We should put it to a vote. Check the newest post for the list by which I think we should draft/lose keepers.
